Storytelling and creative writing for learning new technology such as VR,Film Making and Computer Games
We run projects that teaches new technology through creative writing. writing stories which are then used as a base from which we make a film, a COMPUTER GAME OR A virtual REALITY PROJECT. ALL THE BENIFITS OF CREATING ORIGINAL STORies, ACTING, SEEING HOW THE PROCESS OF FILMING, EDITING AND SPECIAL EFFECTS WORKS WHILE uSING SOFTWARE THAT IS USED IN HOLLYWOOD FILMS AND TO MAKE aaa COMPUTER GAMES.
Our projects can be stand alone, Drop down days, lunchtime or after school clubs, or they could be run in class time and alongside current projects and can tailor fitted to run alongside the National curriculum, for example if Romeo & Juliet is being studied we could create a version set in a DIFFERENT AGE or in any location, could even be in Virtual Reality.
Exploring Creative Pathways and New Technology and STEM subjects Through Storytelling
We are always looking at ways we can support the teaching of STEM subjects through the use of new technology with Storytelling at its heart. we can create projects for different age groups and vary the emphasiss the amount of time spent on different aspects of what we teach and work along side current projects and curriculums
01.
–STORYTELLING
Through storytelling and Gameification we explore the new technologies and most of the software we use along with being industry standard is open source and so free to continue to use after the projects are over
02.
–Film making
To make a film we need a story and we do that together making sure all voices are heard. It is almost the pefect team building activity. We use industry standard film making software and cameras
03.
–virtual Reality
Virtual Reality has so many more uses then just for games we take a look at the creative side of being in VR along with the story telling potential of this new medium
04.
–COMPUTER games
Using the same software that is used for the worlds most played computer game we use story telling as a tool to explore different types and aspects of computer games
Exploring Creative Pathways and New Technology and STEM subjects Through Storytelling
Having worked on feature films we are well aware that the film making process can be very long winded, our emphasis is to keep a momentum and energy going so things like lines don’t have to be exact as long as it conveys the point and narrative of the piece. Our classes can be as short as half or an hour long in the form of after school or lunchtime clubs and are usually run over a term. Working as a group they will first decide on what the genre type will be, thriller, comedy or musical etc. Then over the next few sessions we will work on an outline and do some basic rehearsals followed by filming in front of the greenscreen. We also work alongside projects currently running in schools and happy to work with projects in school time or in the holidays.
